1.Explosives Detection

Explosive Detection Dog Teams are trained by home office approved trainers and on REAL EXPLOSIVES SUBSTANCES. They Under take the same course as any Police office would if not better.

The courses that the dogs and handlers undertake prove that The dog and handler conduct safe and systematic searches in a variety of environments and must demonstrate that the dog can clearly indicate the explosives location.

2.EXPLOSIVE DETECTION TRAINING

Aim

To develop the knowledge and skills to perform explosives searches in a safe and systematic manner.

Overview

Learners must evidence that both themselves and the dog are physically fit and meet the required competencies to perform operational duties. The trainers explain current terrorist activity trends and the use of explosives, including the different types and concealment methods. The dog and handler are required to conduct safe and systematic searches in a variety of environments.

Learners must demonstrate that the dog can clearly indicate the explosives location.The course includes simulated 'bomb threat' exercises, and all training inline with the Home Office Explosives Manual of Guidance.

Learners will discuss stress awareness and the stress management options available.Learners will complete assessments in various live venues and on successful completion be duly Certified for operational searches.

Refresher / Continuation TrainingInline with ACPO recommendations all Handlers should complete a minimum of 20 days refresher training each year. We recommend 2 x 5 days Refresher Courses and 10 x 1 day Continuation Training days.
